Cable unwinder – product & function
Design, function and equipment of the Cable unwinder at a glance.

Cable unwinder
Spools up to 500 mm diameter and 20 kg are taken by the powerful aluminium profile in heavy-duty form. The spool shaft is laid out for a 76 mm core, and differing mounts arise on request. This way cable, single cores, strand and tubing come off heavy coils safely.
Instead of letting the spool be pulled through, a powerful motor turns it actively. The matching controller meters the speed steplessly across the entire range from zero to one hundred percent. The inertia of heavy spools is cushioned by the tension arm, holding cable pull constant at start as at stop.
Low-rebound running matters in material handling: single cores and strands tend to twist, tubing to kink. The active drive prevents spool overrun and loop formation, so the cable runs straight into the process. To suit the winding direction, the running direction can be switched.
The unwinder is delivered ready for service on 230 V together with its complete control. Special dimensions, sturdier spool mounts and chaining with existing cutting and converting lines are carried out by our special-machine shop at the works in Arnsberg.
Typically the unwinder stands ahead of a cut-to-length machine or a crimp assembly line: under motor support the full spool runs off, the length measurement records the dimension, and the machine cuts and crimps. At the test bench the steady pulling force yields repeatable lengths without jams.

Drive and control for cable and strand
The motor rolls cable, single cores or tubing off the spool in a defined way, while the built-in control keeps pulling force at the same level. The cut length therefore stays accurate.
- Output stepless from zero to full, in sync with the cut-to-length machine
- Running direction switchable for varied spool windings
- Tension arm brakes load peaks during cable pay-off
- Control integrated, ready for service on 230 V
Why the Cable unwinder?
Spool under motor power
The drive turns the spool actively instead of letting it merely run along. Metered steplessly from zero to full output, it follows the feed of the cut-to-length machine or crimping line.
Tonne-heavy coils under control
Cable that can barely be turned by hand runs off smoothly here. The drive masters spool diameters up to 500 mm and coil weights up to 20 kg.
Ready to run on 230 V
Motor and control are built into the unit. You push the plug into a 230 V socket and the unwinder runs, with no dedicated control cabinet required at the cutting or test bench.
Tied into the assembly line
Aluminium profile and tension arm provide steady pulling force to the cut-to-length machine, crimping line or length measurement. The unwinder couples onto existing machinery.
Straight from the maker
Without a middleman you talk to Evotec. Special mounts for differing spools, other conductor cross-sections and individual solutions are produced in our own plant.
Shift-proof, German-built
The robust aluminium construction is laid out for continuous running in shift operation. Development and build happen in Germany, aimed at a long lifespan at the cable workstation.
